Is this person rich? What would you do if you had this?

If someone you knew
a) didn’t have or want kids
b) owned a home outright (worth not millions, but enough to live off the profits if it had to be sold) in a really affluent area.
c) didn’t have to pay property tax on house, insurance on car, or the car they drive (a porsche)
d) didn’t have to pay for food or any other daily items.
e) was able to spend $5 or $7,000 on clothes and other gifts.
f) doesn’t work at all except volunteer work
g) was able to afford maybe 1 vacation a year ($3,000)
h) no other bills or debt

I know someone like this (not me, I wish!) & she insists she is not rich (because she still has a budget) but she seems pretty rich to me.

This lady is very very smart, she went to an Ivy League school & has a graduate degree also.
what i mean by “not have to pay tax” is that it is already deducted (by her accountant?) from interest from her investments. So she doesn’t have to work to pay it, that’s what I meant.

btw, she’s only 28.

I am a 16 year old boy. I am taking college classes to get my degree in Psychology ( I am not in high school ) I am also taking online classes to get a degree in graphic design. I have a job and have been working a lot too. My mom says she dosent want me to have a car nicer then hers. I like the cayman because of the way it handles and not because of how fast it will go or any of that other stuff. I will be paying for it and covering the insurance and everything else the car needs. How can I convince her to let me buy it and prove that I can handle owning the car? My mom is very hard to convince
( Also My mom works for a car insurance company and we get a huge discount so I can easily afford the insurance)
Also I might be going to live with my dad and he loves cars. How can I get excited abou the car?
I meant to say “get him excited about the car”

The electric car’s faster than Porsche and Ferrari

Sunday 8 April 2007 @ 11:33 am

With the problems of global warming most of us want to be cleaner and greener. So you would think the electric car, with no carbon emissions, would be a hit in Silicon Valley. In fact it has been a disaster, but the dream is not dead.

The car is powered by ordinary lithium ion batteries, exactly the same kind you would find in laptops or smart phones. However, it needs 7,000 of them, all put into a large battery case, which makes up a third of the car’s total weight.

The Tesla Roadster is incredibly simple. It has 12 moving parts. It needs no oil change, filters, spark plugs or clutch. Plug it in overnight and you are ready to go again in the morning.

Electric engines do not wind up the power like combustion engines do. You get 100% of the torque from the second you touch the pedal. For the Roadster that means 0 to 60mph (100km/h) in four seconds.

Inside, the car has been stripped down to bare essentials. Two gears take you from 0 to 65 and then on to 130mph (210km/h).

The X1 goes from 0-60 in three seconds

Electric Ariel Atom Vs Porsche Carerra GT Drag Race.

Saturday 7 April 2007 @ 11:06 pm

Ferrari 360 Spider – 400Bhp/3197lb – 250bhp-ton
Porsche Carrera GT – 605Bhp/3043lb – 400bhp-ton
Wrighspeed X1 – 220Bhp / 1536lb – 300bhp-ton
Ariel Atom 300 – 300Bhp / 1005lb – 600bhp-ton

Only about 15% of the energy from the fuel you put in your tank gets used to move your car down the road or run useful accessories, such as air conditioning. The rest of the energy is lost to engine and driveline inefficiencies and idling. Therefore, the potential to improve fuel efficiency with advanced technologies is enormous. With an Electric Car it costs just $2.00 per 100kms with MUCH more performance than with petrol at $20.00 per 100kms.

Electric Car races V10 Porsche GT and Ferrari 360 Spider. Wrightspeed X1 electric car Ariel Atom converted to EV with an AC propulsion 165Kw motor and Inverter. 0-60 in 3 sec

Porsche Cayenne and LR3?

Thursday 5 April 2007 @ 8:35 am

In the market to sell a 2005 350z 35th anniversary and get either a used Porsche Cayenne S 05′ and up, or a used Land Rover LR3. I have searched different auto. sites and found that I may be able to find both for around the same price. The Porsche is slightly more expensive however, I figure that the repair costs in the long run will be less than a LR and thus offset any higher price in trying to buy the vehicle. I have heard of how often the Porsche must be serviced and it is unbelievable. On the flip side though, any problems that I’ve read about the LR, and it has been only a few, were totally covered under warranty. Has anyone gone through this decision or has any insight? I am still trying to decide whether or not I would need the extra 2 seats b/c I have a 99′ disco that has the rear seats but its very old now. Does anyone have either of these vehicles, or have had both, and could provide some info on servicing and insurance costs for these two vehicles. If you did face this decision why did you choose the vehicle you did? Thanks for your help!
also which will probably be cheaper on insurance
anyone had any towing experience or problems with either vehicle?

What should i do?

Ok, heres the situation. I’m 16, i drive a 1988 Porsche 924S, and i pay like $150/mo for liability. Few days ago i wrecked my car at school. i took a turn too fast, hopped a curb and went thru a fence. I’m pretty sure the car is totalled since parts are so expensive for that car.

Here’s the thing. Nobody was hurt, and cops came, but they didnt file a report and i wasnt charged with anything. I havent told the insurance company yet though because i don’t know my options. If i told them i totalled my car, will they give me what its worth? Will they do anything? should i just sell it to a junkyard and cancel my insurance?
