porsche insurance

for my 16 birthday my dad promised me and garunteed me a car. problem beign we couldnt agree on a car. i wanted a used porsche boxster for $45,000 caandain since we live in toronto. my dad said get a honda accord coupe top model. we had disputes and arguments
dads argument: too much
no other teen drives tat
many adults getthat car mid 40′s
insurance too high
incase of accident money gone to waste
will have better car than every1 he knows and would be considered stupid by frends claiming it is a bad finiancial move.
honda moer suitable and still gets u to be a “popular” student..
looks good.

my argument:porsche is my dream acr
willing to settle for used but good one
not looking to compete with other students just want nice ride dont we all?
insurance well im gunna try to pitch in.
ill keep teh car 4ever because just like he said not many kids get that car. something to look back at.

sound spoiled but im not i am 15 work about 6 hours a day 5 tiems a week.
make my own money but i spend it all on my family members buy my mom stuff give money to my younger sister and spend teh rest on my younger brother. taht is why my add decided to upgrade his honda offer to a 30 g carbecaue of how family oriented i am and responsible. but i cant seem to find a car that is in desent shpae with alot of luxury features for 30g’s. yeah its a lot i can get teh pontiac g6 convertible mitsubishi and stuff but what about one that can be there forever. iwill kep the car if it ends up beign one that i admire. anotehr option i had was a jaguar xk coupe model. id get chrome rims on it all black tineted black and beige interior. so ppl what do u say my birthday is in a couple months in september. would appreciate if negative comments were left out. i know i sound spoiled but i understand by blessings here thank u very much i already got this one from my dad.so lets just help the kid out. not trying to act spoiled compete or get others jelous or look. luv convertible

Shut up you spoiled brat. My first car was a 16 year old 1963 Volkswagen Beetle. If you’re working 30 yours a week you can buy your own damned car.

I have to agree with your Dad. You should go with the Honda. The reason I say this is because chances are that you will take more risks in the Porsche than you do the Honda. Speeding, careless driving that could harm you and other drivers on the road. Be happy that your Dad is buying you a car and accept his gift graciously. If all your dreams come true at 16, what do you have to look forward to?

The fact that you said you are “gunna try to pitch in” to buy insurance justifies your dad’s argument. You are not ready to own such an expensive vehicle. Your 30 hour a week minimum wage job is not going to cover routine maintenance.

It may be your dream car, but you are hallucinating if you think you are going to keep this car forever. I bet you would tear it up in less than 2-5 years.

Get the Honda and when you get a real job and pay your own bills, you can get whatever car you like.

Asking for a porsche is a bit too much and does come off as spoiled. I mean, my parents bought me a car for my high school graduation gift. It wasn’t the car I wanted but I didn’t complain about it. It’s a car that gets me around and a car is a nice gift. If someone gives you a gift, you can’t be picky. Just be thankful they got you something, especially if it’s a car. A lot of parents don’t buy their kids cars. Honestly, it’s your dad’s money. You should either let him get you the honda accord or nothing at all. Plus, for young people, I don’t think it’s a good idea to get a Porsche because the chances of a car accident are high for young people. Trust me- i’m young. Been there, done that and i’ve seen it happen to other people. If you happen to get in an accident, you don’t want it to be a Porsche.

I don’t have much of an answer for you because to me it sounds like a loose loose situation. I know what it’s like to be in love with a car that you want badly. But in this case I would have to agree with your father. A Porsche is not a good “First Car”. Unless your dad is Bill Gates, it wouldn’t make any sense in risking it. First cars always get beaten up because the new driver still is learning how to drive. Also it’s better to learn on a car that has less power than a Porsche. It’s too easy to get hurt driving an Porsche for an inexperienced driver. It’s a car that is not easy to drive for experienced drivers. How much more for someone who has just started driving. It’s got tricky handling since it’s RWD with a rear weight bias.

Trust me on this one. You should listen to your father. He knows whats best.

Hey there sixteen-year-old who wants the Boxter Porsche!

FIrst of all, do us all a favor (and yourself) and PREVIEW your question so you can see how silly you look. No, I don’t mean silly at all to have a “dream car.” I do mean you have so many typos I could hardly figure out your hopes and dreams.

However, because I know a man who just had to have a Boxter, I pressed on and read your writing. Guess what–you are both things–you are both right and wrong.

Why? Well, it is great to know exactly the kind of car you want. I did and I was a girl. I had a Mustang and then a turbo Z. They both fit my like a dream.

The wrong part–yep, you do need to work for the Boxter. How about compromising w/good old Dad. If you get a Honda or even beter an Acura Legend (used but great) for the time being, could you live with that?

I am willing to bet you that if you go to dear Dad with a written agreement about what you love and what you are willling to do to work toward that Boxter that within a year or two you could trade up.

And then dream on, kid. There are vintage cars and antique cars and super fast Enzo Ferraris that scream. Everyone should love cars for their beauty as well as their utility. I think you have what you need to negotiate a decent deal with your folks. Be responsible, do your research and homework, and most of all, be willing to step back a bit and condider it from your father’s point of view.

And guess what–if you do all this–you are just about a grown up and certainly not a kid anymore.

Good luck–don’t give up your dreams but REMEMBER Nice Guys always finish first not last.

Your kidding yourself. Any parent that is willing to buy their 16 yr old a porsche is just out of their mind. You should be happy your getting a Honda Acord. Don’t ask for too much, thats just being selfish. Too selfish.

we gave my step daughter a 91 toyota with 200000 miles at 16 years old . with the option of “like it or walk”

Dad is right. A $45,000 for a car is extravagant for a 15 yr old not to mention many adults who work 10 hr days. This car at this age could lead to a lot of hassle for you. First, you will get no sympathy from anyone. Cops will ticket you without hesitation, mechanics will over-charge you, and god forbid, if you get into a fender-bender, you will pay forever. Additionally, other kids at school may get jealous and your car could be a target for vandals in the school parking. You would be devastated.
Maybe you could find a happy medium with dad-something sportier than the accord but not as flashy as the porche.

I think if you were an A student maybe your dad could help you out a little with buying a new car.

Judging by your awful spelling and complete lack of grammar and punctuation, I would guess you are one of those kids that is spoiled and ungrateful for everything he has and doesn’t give a crap about anything other than himself.

Most kids your age do not have parents that would get them anything, the rest of us had to work for it. I’d like to meet your dad, and tell him what a horrible kid he has. I’d like to know how at 15/16 you work 6hrs a day 5 days a week. Do you not attend school? Or is this just for the summer? Good luck paying for gas and insurance on a summer’s wages! ROFL!

  12. Fred C - June 18th, 2008 at 12:18 am

I would spend the $30,000 on spelling lessons. They will be of far greater benefit to you. He should buy you a used K-Car and tell you to be thankful he didn’t buy you a Scwhinn bicycle.

I don’t know how Canadian money stacks up against US (not too well from what I remember) but there are plenty of other nice, perhaps less expensive to insure cars. I see where you are coming from though, however your dad makes many valid points and is being quite generous. Have you considered any cars from the Acura line? The TSX and TL are real nice and I understand in Canada there is a CSX. Also possibly a used G35 would probably be nice. I think overall your dad is worried about people having the impression that you are spoiled and also probably doesn’t want to throw 1500 dollars (USA dollars)a month for you to drive a Porsche. No matter what if your dad gets you a 30 thousand dollar car insurance will be outrageous but Porsche insurance will be twice as outrageous if not just for name plate than everything else. My vehicle cost me 100 dollars, not thousand, just 100. Take it for what its worth.

Well, looks like asking for ‘no negative answers’ was a waste of time. There’s a reason you’re getting the negativity, but I have a feeling you won’t see the point.

Just by the way you stated your barely legible question (good god, you need to hit the books!) I can see that you are spoiled. You can’t spell, use grammar, or punctuation. Most 16 year old girls who go to school can do all of those things pretty easily. That means that you either have a learning disability, in which case I’m sorry, or you go to school for every reason except education. Quit socializing and trying to be popular! Freakin get an education!

Now, that’s out of the way…mostly. 16 year olds DO NOT drive Boxters, or any other type of Porche that’s not salvage quality. The reasons are many, but mainly it because of lack of maturity (which you express here quite clearly), lack of responsibility, and lack of funds. Any father who would bend and buy his daughter, or son for that matter, a Porche Boxter for 16th birthday DOES NOT love his child!

From what you’ve said, you’re father obviously loves you because he wants to purchase a car for you that is reliable and reasonable. He’s trying to give you something that will help you with your immediate future, and to argue and whine about it would make you an ungrateful wretch. Take what he is giving you out of the goodness of his heart (you’re lucky he’s getting you a car at all) and use it to finish school and earn the money you need to put toward your dream car. you WILL get your dreamcar someday, but you’ll get it on your own. And, believe me, you’ll be much happier and appreciate it more if you get it with your own hard earned money.

So, I know these answers insult you, but take what you’ve read in all of them and learn. That is a huge step toward being a mature, responsible person. Good luck with your future.

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

  17. ehowto - October 15th, 2010 at 7:35 am

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

Sorry for the huge review, but I’m really loving the new Zune, and hope this, as well as the excellent reviews some other people have written, will help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
