I’ve opened the bonnets of a few Porsches in my time.

    Check in these places;

Front passenger footwell, on left and right sides.
    Under steering coloum.
    Right side of drivers footwell.
    Button in centre panel/ dash.

In my opinion, you shouldnt be driving your car, if you don’t even know how to open the bonnet.

For the UK Practical Driving Test (Part B) it’s a standard requirement to be able to carry out basic safety checks of a vehicle, that includes opening the bonnet, and identifing various points in the engine bay. If you so much as don’t even know where the bonnet open catch is, there’s no hope.

Since you said release handle, it am going to asume that your Boxster is a 97′-01′. You are going to get a little dirty, and it will probably be easier for you, since this will be your first time doing this, to just take the driver’s front wheel off first. Now, above the wheel is your wheel liner. Pull down the wheel liner slightly at the very top of the wheel well until you can get you hand in there to search for a black cable. Once you have found it, pull the cable towards the middle of the car very firmly, the hood will pop open. Very easy, and don’t forget to torque down your wheel to 96 ft/lbs or 130 nm. All of this is possible to do without taking the wheel off too.

Find the fuse panel then look at the fuse chart, look for a fuse that powers up the lights ,dash, or windows, then put a jumper wire to that fuse, from a good battery and of course ground the other side, this should give you enought power to open the hood

Have done a few of these over the years.
If you look in the fuse box there may be a pull out lug. If so pull out and connect positive lead yo it and negative to the door catch.then open bonnet.Do not jump start from this point.
Failing that if you can jack the osf carefully you can reach behind the inner wing and pull the release cable. Bit fiddly best phoning the RAC or AA though. Read and follow Porsche jump start procedure to avoid spiking the ecu. good luck

Is the bonnet release lock electric? or keyed. mine doesnt have a lock. the door covers the handles and when thats locked you cannot access thehandles. you can unlock the door manually.

you could get a jumper (through the cigar lighter) from someone and then unlock it. they make a battery charger (trickle) that plugs into the cigar lighter to maintain your battery ($70 is pricey though)

You should elaborate a little more on what car you have.
There are 3 kinds of latch release:

    strict mechanical:
look under the headlamp assembly and youll see a small wire about 1/8th of an inch in diameter, get a little hook in there and yank abruptly to the direct passenger side of the car. sometimes they stick and youve got to take the front spoiler off as much as you can and reach straight up.

    electronic:
open the drivers door and look at the fuse box(to the left of your feet sitting in the car), pull out the red tab and connect the positive+ side of a known good battery and the negative to the door striker. then push the button and youre in.

    newest style:
in 987 and 997 models you must push the button on the key fob while you have the battery hooked up to the fuse panel and door striker to release it. they reprogrammed the control unit for more “security”….

hope that helps… if it dosnt at least now you know how to get into your buddies cars guys!
