Porsche remote key not working?

I have a 99′ porsche boxster. I tried changing the battery to the remote key today, and i was very carefull in doin so.. but not the buttons dont work at all. the little lcd lite blinks, so it does have power. Could it have lost sync with the car? If so do i have to take it to the dealer.. the one near me is the worste.. they rape you for everything. I’d apprieciate any advise. Thanks.

   Is it the only porcshe thing that is not working? Lucky you - you only have lost sync with reality!
