they say if i get into a car accident im going to die on the spot is this true?? im a female driver i dont drink and drive or speed so should i be worried?
It passes all modern safety laws so its safe. Are their safer vehicles out there? Of course its still a small light weight car and depending on what you hit there could be problems.
The Porsche Boxster reputation suffers from the same flaw as the Miata, Vette, and almost all other high performance automobiles.
Which is a loose nut behind the wheel.
In short, a lot of these cars met an early demise along with their owners because of poor judgment on the part of the driver.
In some ways the safety of the Porsche is superior to that of many other cars, because it is so great at accident avoidance. The problem is that the driver in most cases is not.
Now if you are relying on shear mass and passive safety devices to save you, the Porsche is not for you.
But if you are will to invest in driving skills and alertness, you should be happy with it.
Try to find a driving school like Skip Barber has for Miata owners, that can teach you more about accident avoidance handling.
No, they are very safe if you drive like it was any other car.
They say they are not safe because they are high performance cars.
They are RWD. RWD cars are slippery in rain and impossible to drive in snow. And they are very very fast.
And RWD cars are usually fast.
Faster cars always get in more accidents because people drive them fast.
There are two major schools of thought on this one. Some people prefer huge, high-mass vehicles, arguing that they will fare better in a crash. This is true but even they won’t do well against a loaded 18 wheeler.
The other is the school to which I belong: A small vehicle which handles and brakes well can avoid almost all crashes.
I have been driving for 46 years (lots of miles, and many of them fast) and have never had a wreck other than on the race track. That’s because I drive with a high degree of awareness and can get out of the way. Hardly a day goes by here in Atlanta that I don’t avoid a wreck.
My ex-wife, on the other hand, is a space cadet who drove large cars and had at least one major collision a year — never her “fault.”
If your mind is always elsewhere while driving, buy the great big car and burn lots and lots of non-renewable fossil fuel (I assume you parents don’t object to ruining the planet). If you are a real driver, stick with the Boxster and pay attention to what is going on around you.
This from a guy who commutes to work on a motorcycle, realizing that it’s kind of like playing the old Frogger video game. As long as you know this you are safe.
Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

i guess it would depend on what you hit, or hit you.
