For half the money of a Porsche turbo, same price as the BMW M3, the GT-R is faster on track than a Bugatti Veyron and Porsche Turbo and GT3, probably GT2 too, with an acceleration time from 0-60 of 3.2 seconds (Faster than a Ferrari Enzo). How will this affect the competition if there is any?
Well EuroStud…

While the GT-R isn’t a direct competitor, car professionals still tested it against the M3. I’m just wondering, can Mercedes build something that can better the GT-R’s performance and how? The Mercedes SLR is Mercedes’ fastest supercar and it only goes 0-60 in 3.8 seconds compared to the GT-R’s 3.2 seconds. And while the GT-R had better track times than the Veyron, I’m sure the SLR wuldn’t be faster than the GT-R…Maybe Mercedes needs better engineers…

Don’t post the same question twice. I don’t even think Mercedes makes a competitor to the GT-R. Mercedes makes sporty-luxury cars. Not what the GT-R is. The M3 isn’t in the same class as the GT-R anyways. The M3 is and always was smaller than the Skyline. GT-R eats the Z06, Viper and is hand in hand with the 911 Turbo.

Well for my own opinion, Mercedes-Benz will be affected but not much. Let’s say about 20%. Why? It’s because that Mercedes-Benz is more focused in their luxury, style, and performance. Yes, they will be affected because another great sportscar just came out from the automobile industry. But look, Nissan is not the nearest competitor of the Mercedes. So therefore, they won’t be affected much. Not unless if the BMW, Lexus, Jaguar or the Audi will release cars that can beat the Mercedes’ AMG plans and future supercars (Hope that won’t happen. Mercedes is the best car for me).

People don’t generally cross-shop Mercedes-AMG and Nissan, so I think AMG will be just fine. The GTR is awesome though. Nissan really pulled out all the stops for the GTR.

I can’t wait until Nissan drops the VR38 engine, ATTESA E-TS , and dual clutch transmission into an Infiniti Sedan so it can finally compete directly with AMG, M, RS, and Lexus-F models.

The same way it will effect Ferrari. That it to say not at all. MB does not say they build the fastest cars. Just the best. These kinds of cars are aimed at very specific customers and the small numbers mean they will sell. If you look at everything Nissan said they aimed at the 911 Turbo but I hardly think that Porsche is worried either, again the car speaks for itself.

Even within what is a pretty small market the Nissan GT-R is a niche car. Yes, they will take note and adapt as required.

But the proper question to ask is how will the European Union plans to fine car makers for producing cars that emit more than 120 g/km of CO2 will impact their product range.

This calls for serious stepping up by the engineering teams and chief engineers in Mercedes-Benz. For too long have they just been designing a body and then plugging in a mass produced engine. A lot of innovation is going on, but not in terms of performance. Even the Corvette program is going to be flushed out of the picture. The GT-R is only $69500, not much higher than the Zo6. But it only has a V-6, has 4 wheel drive, and can still outrun it. How do they do this while maintaining fuel economy and comfort? idk. But what i do know is that some serious effort needs to be put in to keep raising the bar. Also, one must worry about the energy and environmental stuation as well. At this rate, Supercars have NO future. That is one of the reasons why i prefer clean diesel with urea-inducing catalysts, because it reduces emission while still giving the high power of diesel.
We must face it. All engineers need to be a bit more creative if they want to keep up…and in.

Although the GT-R is an AWESOME car I don’t think Mercedes Benz has anything to worry about. (currently own a Mercedes C280 4Matic and a 350z nismo and i’m seriously thinking about the new GT-R) People that are looking at the $493,000 SLR are in a class way above driving a mere $80,000 Nissan. The SLR does not claim to be the fastest car on the market, more engineering goes into saftey, true track performance (not speed), light weight construction and 100% luxury. The GT-R is an awesome car, and yes it has a fast 0-60 time but it’s by no stretch a luxury car. I’d say the corvette z06 buyers, the Porsche 911 buyers, and the Viper buyers are more likley to switch over to the GT-R. .. Driving a Mercedes Benz isn’t about the speed, it’s about success, wealth, and owning the best of something most people will never be able to have.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

Sorry for the huge review, but I’m really loving the new Zune, and hope this, as well as the excellent reviews some other people have written, will help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
