The 911 is THE benchmark by which all other sports car are judged. But for the record, the latest 997 Turbo has been tested by MT in the wet did 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. The older 996 Turbo was a true 200MPH car, so how much faster on top end will the new one be?…
Balance, turn-in, feedback, tactile feel, brakes, cornering, high-peed stability/solidity are all something to consider in a sports car. The 911 has them all in spades.
Porsches record in endurance racing also is shattering at Le Mans, Daytona, etc.
If you son wants to read something about a technological uber-mobile, do some research on the 959. It was and still is probably the most technologically advanced product put on 4-wheels devised by man(and real world technology that was passed onto not only future Porsches, but other mfg’s who bought the rights to use that technology.
If you’re talking the 1975-1977 911 Turbo Carrera, it does 0-60 in 6.1 seconds, the quarter mile in 14.7, and has a top speed of 153 mph.
The 2007 Carrera Turbo does 0-60 in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 196 mph…and a quarter mile time in the 12 second range.
As for the Skyline, released in the U.S. as the Infiniti G35, the specs for the 2008 model haven’t been released yet. The rumor says Nissan is shooting for 0-60 in 3.8 seconds, an as-yet-unreleased quarter mile time and a top speed somewhere in the 180 mph range.
In standard out the showroom form….. definately the Porsche, since as far as I remember (from when i last bothered to look), the top speed of them was pushing past 180mph.
While the Nissan Skyline as far as I recall is restricted to 275BHP & 155MPH under Japanese Law.
However, the Nissan Skyline is a very popular car to tune, and I have heard of examples being tweaked to well over 1000BHP, but I don’t know if anyone’s ever clocked the Topspeed, but the Bugatti Veyron also has 1000BHP and been officially clocked at over 250mph.
Don’t know how accurate this is to go by, but I have a Nissan Skyline in my garage on Playstation2 game “Gran Turismo3″, tuned to 877BHP which I’ve had do 386kph (239mph) on the high speed bowl, and hit 400kph (248mph) while having a slipstream race with a RUF (modified Porsche 911) in one of the challenges.
A Prosche compared to a Nissan is like comparing The Pittsburgh Steelers to a local high school football team. Hope that clears it up for you and your son!!!
Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.
I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

the legal speed limit on nz streets are 100 kilometre per hour, so both cars are fast.
depends on the aftermarket parts you put in it, but if it were all stock i’d probably go with the Porche
