would you buy the horsepower or would you go for the brand? for instance the porsche boxster base has 220 hp cost approx $28k w/ warranty. a simple nissan maxima has 265 hp and cost about the same money. seems to me like if i buy the name porsche i’d expect winning ponies…no matter which porsche i get. i’ve talked to a guy with a super-sentra that beat a boxster in a street race. i’d feel embarrassed at the end of that race if i had the boxster. wouldn’t you? i think i’d want horsepower in the end. when i finally shop for my car, should i reconsider the car manufacturer name or go for the most horsepower i can afford?

Where are you at, you cant get a Porsche boxter for under 45,000. which model are you talking about. Plus these are 2 totally different kinds of car, the maxima is a family car with a little perormance. the porsche is a show car for tools who dont know anything about cars. the only good porsche is the cayenne. If your going to spend 30,000 you could get a lot more horsepower than that. My F150 has 310 hp stock and I only paid 26,000 out the door.
A Boxster is not the vehicle to compare to a Maxima. A Boxster is an open top road handling sports car. It is made for winding roads and has the handlng to prove it. It is not however, a high horsepower super car that will win drag races. A Maxima is a family “performance” sedan. While it has higher h.p. than a Boxster, it will for sure not have the handling capabilities. For under $40k you could have the best of both worlds in a 300hp Subaru WRX STI, or a 275hp Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Either would handle with the likes of a Boxster, and both have 4 doors and all wheel drive, making them roomier and safer. Plus, you can get unlimited upgrades on both for engine, body, etc. If a status symbol is what you want, you will have to sacrifice some performance, or spend more money to get it.
Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.
Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.
This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.
