They have their on charm and I’ve always liked the look, but be warned that alot of people will accuse you of having a “fake” or “poor man’s” Porsche. Or course saying that since it’s not a 911.
Another thing to consider is, even though you can land a great condition 944 for a fraction of the price of a 911 (of the same year), the upkeep and parts for them are nearly as expensive as a 911. They also require lots of upkeep, expected from any Porsche. My mechanic swore to me that a 911 has less problems.
You mostly have to stay ahead in maintenance which isn’t that cheap or face potential failure. IE…if the timing belt breaks, then more than likely you bent all your valves..aka..entire upper head rebuild at a tune of $3500+. They also eat up clutches which will run you $1,200+ parts and labor.
Just something to consider. They may be affordable, even when in great condition, but they still come with Porsche upkeep cost.
Oh, and do NOT ever buy the 944S model. It was only made for one year, thus, parts are rare and very expensive. The prices above are for a regular 944, expect double for an S model and all you get is a very, very minor increase in power.
944 was not a successful car and (more than the 911′s) expensive to maintain & repair.
they tend to depreciate as opposed to same generation 911′s which are now appreciating.
there engine is strong and fast, and if you like them….that’s the key, be prepared to spend a lot for service/maintenance, but they are a porsche and drive very well indeed
Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.
Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.
Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
It’s alright, but i like the new 997 cars especially the TURBO.

Any Porsche is cool. Especially the 911s.
