Whenever I see a sports car, whether it be a 350z or a Porsche Boxster, I can’t help but look at the person driving the car. My opinion differs when I see old men driving a sports car, sometimes I think, well he probably deserves it by working hard. Other times I think, he should give that car to someone who would make more use of it (not that they couldn’t). And then there’s the picture of an old balding guy in a Porsche Boxster with a beautiful girl next to him….what do you think of that picture?

Yeah, I tend to look at the person driving the car for real catchy cars like those. As much as the older guy probably deserves that 350z or Porsche Boxster more than the younger one, it doesn’t look right with the older men driving it. They look like they’re going through mid-life crisis. Honestly, I think those cars were made all wrong. The looks, features and specs are made for the younger ones, yet the prices aren’t. The picture of that old balding guy in a Boxster with a beautiful girl next to him makes me ask myself: daughter or golddigger?
Normally the old man driving a sports car has earned it through his many years of hard work or working as a professional. I look forward to being that old man.
My opinion is that good on them and I hope they are enjoying it. Sure I’d love to be in their position and a bit of envy creeps in, but I don’t think they should give it to someone to make more use of it? In what way would someone make more use of a sports car legally? They could be on their way to or from the track…
I race cars with a local car club and I’d say 50% of the drivers are over 50 and own sports cars, and they have years of experience and hard work behind them, they are terrific racers (very competitive), are always willing to give great advice and lend a helping hand, and get plenty of use out of their sports cars by using them on the track and in small speed events. So they’re great in my opinion.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
