With a Porsche Classic, you Can be Sure That People Will Turn Their Heads

With a Porsche Classic, you Can be Sure That People Will Turn Their Heads

For sports car enthusiasts all over the world, and in particular for Porsche fans all over the world the numbers 356 hold a special meaning. The reason for this lies in the chronicles of history, and a date that would forever live on in the memory of all Porsche fans. The year was 1948 and the date was the 8th of June. This was the birth year of the Porsche classic Type 356 sports car.

It weighed in at a modest 650kg, had a 1.1 liter capacity center engine and had an immodest (at the time) 40HP under its hood. Difficult to even find one of these original Porsche classic cars, if you do across them you will not be surprised to learn that they are considered priceless. With all good reason of course.

Besides being the first ever Porsche classic cars to come into existence there were only a total of 50 made and they were all without exception hand built, and that’s saying a lot. These penultimate Porsche classic cars were the harbingers of the 356 that we can still see today.

]]>

Unfortunately for all concerned the 356 Porsche classic car line was discontinued after 17 years in April of 1965. To that date just over 81,000 356 Porsche classic cars had left the assembly line. In the beginning no more than 500 were expected to sell.

This was a happy mistake on the part of the “father” of the Porsche classic car, Ferry Porsche, because by March of 1954 ten times the initial estimated amount of 356 Porsche classic cars had been sold.

The discontinuation of the 365 line however was not the end of the Porsche name or the car. A new concept Porsche classic was in the makings and by 1963 – two years before the 356 was discontinued – the Porsche classic 911 had become a reality.

This Porsche classic was the foundation for many a sports car to come and indeed still lives on to this day. On June 15th of 1996, Porsche reached another milestone and the one millionth Porsche was delivered from the assembly line.

And when all is said and done, the Porsche classic still lives on in the classic Porsche design and logo, and if you own a Porsche classic, you can be sure that people will turn their heads to look you. Even in this day and age of sports supercars a classic lives on.

Why the Classic Porsche 911 is so Special

Why the Classic Porsche 911 is so Special

Why is the Classic Porsche 911 So Special

There are many good quality cars with high performance specifications to their name in the world today, so why would you choose an old 911 as that special car to own.  Well, here’s a few thoughts on why they have that special appeal for me.

One of a Kind. Many cars these days, look like many other cars. There isn’t any real uniqueness and quite often you find yourself mistaking one car for another.  There’s no such thing with a classic Porsche 911.  Their shape is unique.  Since they were first made in the late sixties and even in today’s modern incarnations, the basic 911 shape remains unchanged at its core.  This is even more true of the 911′s made up to the early 90′s and the type 964.

Affordable Supercar. A classic 911 is now in the financial reach of most people.  Buying a 911 has its own set of unique requirements on the purchaser, but essentially you can bag yourself the iconic 911 for the price of a new hatchback.

No Depreciation. Buying a classic, unlike a modern car, is also a bit of an investment these days.  The older 911′s value is on the rise.  At the very least if you buy a good 911, you’ll at least get your money back when you sell it.  I’m afraid that can’t be said of a modern car, or even a car of a similar vintage.

Pedigree and heritage. The 911 has been such a success story because Porsche have concentrated long and hard on getting it right.  There have been no huge changes from year to year.  Rather, the 911 has been honed and perfected piece-by-piece.  Racing and competition is in the veins of the Porsche brand, and their success increases further the uniqueness and quality of its road going 911′s.  Car’s come and go, but the 911 is a true icon in the automotive world and will be around for many years to come.

]]>

Build quality. Porsche have also built their cars well and to high and exacting standards.  A 911 that has been looked after its owners, will be as good today as when it was first built.  From around 1974 the 911′s were galvanised to prevent corrosion.

Function and Form.
One of the most unique things about the 911 is the interior.  It’s basic and built with purpose in mind.  Everything is where it should be.  The rev counter is large and bang in the centre of the driver’s dashboard – where it’s easy to see.  The controls are simple, easy to use and robust.  The interior is more like a aircraft cockpit and not a car. This is definitely a drivers car.  No fancy accessories to be found in here!

Built for Performance. There is no doubt in your mind when at the wheel of a Porsche 911, that it was built to perform and perform outstandingly well.  This is a proper performance car.  Put your foot down and she will respond with breath taking performance.  They are light and nimble cars.  They give the driver lots of feedback.  They hand incredible well and stick to the road like no other.  Set the car up for a corner and press the pedal and shell deliver outstanding cornering speeds even without all the modern driver aids like traction control and stability management.  Be warned however – as a drivers car you have to concentrate.  Think about what your doing and she’ll reward you mile after mile.  You can’t loose focus though.  Lift off in a high speed corner and the rear of the car will attempt to overtake the front!

The Flat Six Boxer engine. The engine in the old classic 911′s is a flat six boxer engine.  The pistons are horizontally apposed.  This helps keep the height of the car low.  Its air cooled.  No heavy water being pumped around these engines.  These engines a truly unique sound.  You wont here noting else like it.  They have a great burbling sound at idle and scream when revved hard.

Very Reliable and Dependable.
These cars were built to go back and forth to work during the week and then driven at the circuit at the weekends.  And even after a day of fast driving at the track, they would drive you home again at the end of the day.  These car’s will perform day after day after day.  These really are reliable supercars.

Look after your 911 and she’ll look after you
.  Unlike many supercars, and modern day to day cars for that matter, a well maintained Porsche 911 will give you many years of trouble free motoring.  She’ll start in cold icy conditions at turn of the ignition key.  If your mechanically minded you can maintain these cars at home.  Regular servicing and rust protection will keep these cars alive for ever!

A Sense of Community. There is a huge community around the world of like minded Porsche enthusiasts and your never far away from friendly advice.  Forums like m911 Forums is dedicated to the 911 community and is place to ask your questions about 911 ownership.  Channel p101tv is a video and picture sharing site for the Porsche enthusiast to show off their Porsche to the world and Stuttgart Exchange is a place to buy and sell all things Porsche with fellow Porsche enthusiasts.

Porsche Design,especially Designed for You!

Although the brand of Porsche Design originates from Porsche family, father of Porsche sports car, it dose not has a close and clear relationship with Porsche cars.

In 1973,F.A Porsche brought a new era to the watch field with a black time stopwatch, and then he made successive  innovations in titanium metal and watches’exterior design.

Even the year of 1973 found Porsche’s production of the first compass wristwatch with  the help of IWC. And during the 20 years of later cooperation, Porsche established a prestigious brand image with the help of that of IWC’s, while IWC exploited its sportswatch market, through which they both set solid foundation for their glorious accomplishment.

In 1995, F.A.Porsche took over Eterna watch factory and began to run it by himself.

]]>

Ernst F.Seyr’s aim was to produce a machine time stopwatch for user to easily read the time.He first invited Paul Gerber as the technical consultant, who once invented bell time stopwatch for Fortis, and who at that time was  a member of Horological Academy of Independant Creators(AHCI),then he particularly extended his factory and recruitied more workers.

At the end of 2001, Eterna officially took over the latter blueprint’s design and modification, and began a programme to produce his archetypal watch, which got 12 experienced watchmaking masters, designers and CNC engineers involved. The breathtaking Indicator did not come out before 2004.

In the year of 2003,Porsche Company became a major shareholder of Porsche Design Company, and a new Group—-PLH was set in Bitgenma Sea???Becingen.

By October, the new group has already integrated Porsche’s business in luxury accessories and patents, and the promotion on all brands except for auto manufacture.

Porsche Design belongs in PLH, whose major management is in the 12-staff Porsche Design Office  on the lake bank ,Zell and the Selection area, and it covers Porsche Company accessory ,costume, and sports device(like Porsche bicycle).

65% of the stocks belongs to Porsche Company, the other 35% to Porsche family, which shows us the tendency that Porsche Design will return to Porsche.

Porsche Service

Porsche Service

How to save money on your next Porsche service

Porsche servicing is now much cheaper, for those in the know.

Thanks to European legislation, you no longer have to be tied to high Porsche service costs, dictated by your local dealer.

In October 2003 new European legislation affecting the motor industry came into force called “Block Exemption Regulation” 14002002 (BER), and this now means that you can book your next Porsche car service online and save up to 50% on what you might pay at your local Porsche dealer.

Before the law changed it was difficult to have new cars within their warranty period serviced outside a franchised dealer. If you wanted to shop around for the best prices on Porsche servicing, your hands were tied.

The change in the law now gives every car owner the freedom to service their car away from the main dealers, and still have their warranty protected.

Thousands of Porsche car owners have now taken advantage of their new right and reduced their Porsche serving costs, whilst benefiting from the convenience of booking with national car service providers such as Service A Car.

]]>

Service A Car is a leading online car servicing network that prides itself on the quality of its Porsche servicing, their customer service and transparent pricing. Because the company is not tied to any particular car manufacturer, they are able to service any make of vehicle and compete freely in the market, on a like-for-like.

Every vehicle is rigorously serviced according to the manufacturer’s servicing schedule, using genuine recommended parts fitted by qualified technicians. This means that every Porsche car service fulfils the warranty criteria and there is no compromise on the servicing standards of a main dealer.

Companies like Service A Car, who fulfil the warranty criteria when servicing your Porsche, are able to maintain your service book, just as main dealer can – thereby protecting your warranty and helping you to maximise the resale value of your Porsche car.

Of course, booking direct with a national car servicing network has its own advantages:
·         You no longer have to do all the running around. Service A Car collects your Porsche in the morning and delivers it back that afternoon, free of charge
·         You pay a fixed Porsche service price, which can be up to 50% below the price at the Porsche servicing desk of your local dealer
·         No additional work is carried out without your agreement, which means no nasty surprises when it comes to paying the bill
·         Trained Customer Advisers are on hand throughout the day to keep you informed of progress, and report back on problems you asked to be investigated as part of your Porsche service e.g. knocks and rattles
·         Your Porsche service includes a free wash and vacuum clean
·         You simply pay with your credit or debit card and your car is delivered back to your home or work address.

Our advice for saving money on Porsche car servicing is to contact a national car servicing network, who is not tied to any one particular car manufacturer, like Service A Car.

So, before you book your next Porsche service, why not ask your local dealer to tell you the cost of the service (plus parts, oil and any extras) and then compare it with a fixed price quote from a national servicing network, like Service A Car?

Happy motoring,
Howard.

It is equally important to equip it with authentic Porsche parts. A lot of care goes into the designing of Porsche engine including its intake, body, exhaust, suspension and other parts.

Each Porsche part undergoes careful testing for better capacity and performance. Moreover, every part comes along with sub-accessories that lend beauty to the car and make it reliable and safe for driving. Extreme care with an eye for detail even goes into the manufacturing of sub-accessories of the Porsche. In recent times, you may obtain authentic parts for your Porsche depending upon your needs and specifications.

]]>

You may look forward to having wheels and wheel rims for your car of a variety of types and styles. The specifications of wheels vary according to the Porsche model you own. They are classified into 911, Cayenne, Boxster and Cayman. Furthermore, exhaust tubes of Porsche are available in a number of styles and capacities concerning the model type. They include the Gibson exhaust, Borla exhaust and turbo exhaust.

In addition, taillights of Porsche are usually LED-beam taillights of high capacity having colors such as dark or light smoke and clear or tinted. Porsche parts are the perfect upgrades for your car. As you drive proudly on the streets, they make a fashion statement. For taking the Porsche’s comfort and adaptability to a much satisfactory level, the manufacturer of this car introduce spacers, fuel injectors and air filters in it.

Porsche 911 Carrera ONE FOR THE BOYS

Porsche 911 Carrera ONE FOR THE BOYS

A Woman\’s View – Will It Suit Me?

I must admit to being faintly amused by the antics of the lads on the road test team while they were awaiting delivery of Porsche’s 911. They leapt to their feet every time somebody arrived in reception, only to return dejected when it was just the stationers or a bike courier. We’ve had a number of sports cars through before, but this was different. I couldn’t really appreciate why they were like kids on Christmas Eve. Even when the 911 was delicately backed off the transporter, I was failing to see what the excitement was about. For an all-new car it looked a lot like the previous model. I was rather underwhelmed. Given the opportunity to take a walk around the Porsche, even I could appreciate that the design was cleaner and less fussy than previously, but it was still something that, and how can I put this delicately, seemed a little ‘gender specific’.

The Practicalities

The first surprise is that even though your posterior does drop quite a way before it makes contact with leather, the driving position of the 911 isn’t at all intimidating. Compared to something like a TVR or a Noble, the 911 feels comparatively upright and visibility all round is excellent. The front boot is relatively deep and there’s plenty of room to sling a bag or five on the otherwise rather useless rear seats.

The fascia is one area that has improved leaps and bounds over the old car. Although I wasn’t too keen on the rather slimy plastics used on the steering wheel, the dashboard has been considerably smartened up, with an LCD screen that can actually be read in bright sunlight, The handbrake makes a rather dreadful clack when you forget to press the button, rather spoiling the quality perception, but other than that it feels agreeably premium and very stylishly finished. The optional stopwatch mechanism on the dashboard is huge fun to fiddle with. Operated via a column stalk, you can time the intervals between which builders retort in disgust when they realise there’s a woman at the wheel of their dream car. I tried the Carrera coupe but there’s also a pretty Cabriolet model available which, given the weather conditions on the week I received the car, I was rather glad I hadn’t specified.

]]>

Behind the Wheel

Twist the rather cheap feeling key and the 911′s latest direct fuel injection flat six engine springs to life with real verve. The steering takes a little getting used to, being a little lighter than you may expect of a premium sports car. With the engine slung out back, the steering isn’t encumbered by the weight of a big powerplant and feels rather lively. It’s not quite as communicative as the old 911 but it’s still alive in your hands.

The acceleration is, of course, astonishing. Quite why anybody feels the need to fork out another £7,000 for the more powerful Carrera S is something that doesn’t transcend the gender gap too well, as the standard car will accelerate to 60mph in under 5 seconds and zip right up to nearly 180mph. Despite this, the combined fuel economy figure of around 25mpg is almost unbelievable.

Even if you were to get a bit too over-exuberant, the PSM (Porsche Stability Management) electronics will probably save you from an expensive horticultural incursion. Active safety is well addressed in the first instance, as most will agree that Porsche brakes are the best in the business, and the 911′s stoppers are suitably retina threatening.

Value for money

The £63,070 that Porsche ask for the entry-level 911 coupe sounds a lot of money, but the car is actually reasonably cost effective to run. Much of that comes about through reasonable servicing charges, decent fuel economy and, most importantly of all, healthy residual values. Run a 911 for three years and your pence per mile figure is likely to be lower than if you’d bought something like a top of the range Peugeot 607. If you do want to run a premium sports car, this one makes the most financial sense.

Could I Live With One?

As much as I enjoyed the 911, it’s really not my sort of car. Given that sort of money, I’d opt for something a little more modest and pocket the change. That said, on the right day and on the right road, little can touch the Porsche. I can see why the boys get so excited.
